A few days spent at the BND Graduate School 2024 (Sept 2–12) at Corsendonk Duinse Polders. Between lectures, I took the time to explore the stunning North Sea coast—a landscape both melancholic and steeped in history. Years ago, I read ‘The Dreamer of Ostend’ (La Rêveuse d’Ostende),by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, and it was truly wonderful to finally encounter those landscapes in person. It felt like stepping right into the pages of the book. Interestingly, De Haan once served as a home to Albert Einstein.
